You stood up. You showed up by the tens of thousands and let your voice be heard. Congratualtions. However, let me say that it is about time.
You have had thousands of chances to do this before. Only when something as dear as healthcare did you give a damn what these elected “representatives” were doing. Only then did you realize that what they are doing is not in your best interest. Well at least you did this time.
I urge every American to wake up. Pay attention. These fools in Washington have raped you long enough. It’s time for every American Citizen to stand up and be counted. Tell them in Washington that we are tired of politics as usual. They better start listening to what we, the people, want. And if they don’t? Kick their sorry asses out and one of us will do the job.
I guess I must have sown a lot of pain in my life. I see it now. I feel it now. I try my best to provide for someone. I have given up everything I have. But I can’t understand why it isn’t enough. I have put remodeling of my house on hold so I could pay for many things. I have paid for trips, bought so many gifts.
I guess I have been a terrible person to her. All I wanted was some companionship from her. For her to touch my face once in a while. Smile at me. Support me once in a while. Seems it is for nothing. Seems I have been wrong about so much.
I am not perfect. I am so far from it I don’t know what perfect is. I made mistakes. We all make mistakes. I try hard to overlook others mistakes and imperfections. But some days I feel like a target.
I have sown bad seed. Forgive me. Please.
Ok, they reconnected the service and gave me a credit on my bill. My question is, why does anybody have to go through that to get any satisfaction.
Wish I had an alternative. People, you have to speak out against those that wrong you, or it won’t ever change.
Why am I always surprised when I am expecting something that resembles customer service from Comcast? It is really clear; They do not know what the term “customer service” means. It’s foreign to them. That much is clear if you have ever had a conversation with the alleged client service representative at the other end of the phone. They have a script. They follow it to the letter. Nothing gets past them, being the high speed, low drag team of pros they are. Wow. At the end of that script, and you have no further recourse, they politely thank you for your choosing Comcast and is there anything else they can do for you? Amazing.
Windows sucks. Many say that, yet I still use it a great deal. My son doesn’t understand. He is die hard Mac. That’s cool. I have a Mac now too. It’s taking time to get used to the thing, but i am getting better, feeling more comfortable with the navigation, etc.
But Windows…..arrrgghh. My friend has an older HP that at the time was fast and handled all she needed to do. Time passes. Defrag, clean the registry, defrag again…..and eventually the answer is a fresh load of Windows.
So I gather the goods together and back everything up to a portable drive, ask one more time, “are you sure?” Yep, let’s do it. There is the beginning of hell. I get the drive formatted and Windows installed only to find that windows has formated and loaded on the portable drive. Oh no……..start again and I get it on the internal drive where it is supposed to be.
Now I find…..no drivers for the HP. Network card not working, so now I gotta find another way to get the drivers. I download on a laptop and burn a CD. Ok, get the network and the audio working. So far so good. I look at the device manager and see a whole bunch of yellow. One by one I get the yellow question marks to go away……except the usb host.
Now I connect the portable drive hoping for the best. Nope……no partition. I give up for the night. It has been seven hours.
Next day I go to MicroCenter and find a nice deal on a DuoCore Intel box. Lots of features, 64 bit Vista Home Premium. More fun on the way.
I load the apps needed and get to WinFax. Not supported by VIsta. So I find a program on the web that does and order it. No download link until the next day. Alright. I get it, load it…and behold! It works.
Now on the the portable. I found a couple of data recovery programs, load them up and launch. It will be 19 hours before I know if I can recover anything!!!
My head hurts and paper and pencil doesn’t look so bad anymore.
Ok, I have been a Windows user since the days of the 286 processor. My first pc was a Dell. A real screamer too. 20MB hard drive, 256MB of ram, a 9600 baud modem…..man, the features go on.
Well just before the Dell, there was another Apple. I had a IIe. $1500 for that one. Dual floppy drives, a 5MB hard drive, no modem. Can’t remember how much ram, maybe 128k. Then came the Dell….and I was floored that it cost $2100.
Now think about that a minute. Do have any idea how much computer $2100 will buy?? How about even $1500. My new MacBook cost that much. 2.5ghz processor, 250GB hard drive, 2GB of ram……
I guess watching the development of computers over the last 30 years is to me as was television to my parents. They grew up in the 1920s and 30s. No television. Radio if you were lucky enough to own one. And lucky enough to live in an area that had a radio station. And now? Hundreds of television channels delivered to your home by satellite, cable and some over the air. Amazing enough.
The point was going to be that I have to learn to use an Apple now. It’s not a lot different in a lot of ways, but significantly so in others. I marvel at how fast it boots up. I am not yet used to the feel of the keyboard, but then that is true for me with all laptops. I like the feel of my old HP PS2 keyboard. In time I guess it will be second nature. This MacBook is the 15″ model, and is my second laptop. The first one was a Fujitsu Lifebook. It was a 17″ behemoth. It weight a ton and I found I carried it nowhere. This Mac isn’t as light as the 13″ MacBook obviously, but I find I need the bigger screen. Age is taking its toll on the eyes. And so it goes.
